During editing we had decided to make additional footage of the characters entering the door. This is to make further understanding to the narrative of the opening.
For research of how I would like to have the scene I searched for scenes that have some kind of memorable/unique entering through a door. Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (2010) was the first as there are many similarities in narrative. Tim Burton also has a very unique technique of filming and style that's very sweet but gruesome. The way he has filmed the entering of a new world in Alice in Wonderland (2010) creates a frustration as the character and space is very crooked.
This could be a source of inspiration to how I would film the entering scene. Produce something that makes the audience feel on edge with the idea of going into the cupboard.
The Wizard of Oz (1939) is an older film however has a link of narrative entering a dream-like land. There are only two shots that I like and that is of one silhouette body with a following shadow running to the door handle. I really like this effect as there are many scenes of intense shadows shaped with key mise en scene in our opening.
The second shot has two legs/feet being pulled in underneath the house. The idea of only seeing the feet being pulled in would be a nice shot of representing the narrative as there is the idea of innocence being pulled into excess.
