Audience Expectations

Interview/Comments on Expectations on Film Opening

I interviewed a range of people on the expectations of how they perceived the film further through showing the storyboard themes of Sugarcoted.

What were the first genre themes that came in mind from the storyboard of Sugarcoated?
"The first thing that came to mind was a fantasy through the colours of the scenes, however that changed from the details of the settings. The genre themes I saw were horror and dystopian."
"The opening seems a slight change to the normal openings to films, however looks like a film of dramatic representations of society."

What kind of key narratives did you pick up from the opening?
"A huge change from good to bad. The locations seem underground and attractive like a fluorescent dream but switch to the reality of consuming becoming a horror of disaster"
"Reminds me of Alice in Wonderland, a different world someone goes through but ends up being a dream. However waking up is like a nightmare."

What did you think about the main characters in the opening being all female?
"I guess it represented women as vulnerable instead of a strong lead role due to the narrative of the opening, how they become victims"
"Its a nice futuristic representation and change"
